Jurging Is Taken By Heart Attack
William Frederick Jurging 73 died at Washington County Hospital from a heart attack suffered late yesterday. He had been hospitalized since March 7 after a fall from a ladder caused serious back injuries. Funeral services are set for Monday at 4 p.m. at L. A. Jones funeral home with Rev. Fred E. Miller presiding. burial in Elm Grove cemetery. Born February 17, 1870 in Germany, he came to the United States as a baby and lived in Crawfordsville since 1896, later moving to Washington in 1902. He worked 50 years as a tin smith and co owned the Jurging tin shop with his son Rollie. Surviving: son Rollie Jurging, daughter Mary Jurging, grandson Dennis Allen Jurging, three brothers Henry, Herman, and others, and sisters Elizabeth Campbell Zaide Zingre and Charlotte Whitney. His wife Eliza Verna Allen died in 1949.

Des Moines Chief R W Nebergall said 285 cages of liquor were seized in a Dubuque warehouse linked to two East Dubuque tavern owners. Agents valued the liquor at about 29000 and considered it illegal in Iowa.
