Art historian Carroll Hogan to speak at high school exhibit
Carroll Hogan of the University of Iowa will speak at a high school and junior high art exhibit Friday evening March 24 in the school gym. Pensions: Dies When Fire Destroys Home
Willard Phillips 79, a bachelor old age pensioner, burned to death today in his rented home three miles northwest of Cincinnati Iowa. Coroner Robert L. Fenton said Phillips was found near the door, suggesting he tried to flee as the fire started in a stove in his sleeping room. Neighbors discovered the blaze. the house burned before firefighters arrived. No inquest will be held.
