Four deputies under Sheriff B A Atherton will patrol Floyd County roads to enforce an embargo on trucks over three tons gross weight while thawing makes roads soft. The move aims to protect highways until they firm up.
Riem Armstrong, 14, son of EK J Armstrong of Randolph, was found in his room with a bullet wound to the chest. He had just returned from delivering milk and gone upstairs to get ready for school. A 22 caliber rifle lay beside him as his mother found him unconscious.
An explosion from a steam radiator at the Jewett Dress club damages plate glass and tears a wall between the dress cub and Bissig's cafe. Tailor John Cole, 58, is scalded by hot water from the radiator.

William Guttenfelder, wealthy retired farmer, was held to be the father of a 1933 baby girl born to Mrs. George Jebsen. District Judge Grover W. Brown ruled Guttenfelder must pay the Iebsens $106000 from the 1933 settlement. The suit challenged the settlement as fraud, and the case marks an early use of blood group testimony to determine paternity.
Sam Reed a 63 year old farmer at his Boone residence shot himself in the head on the porch while his wife slept inside and guests visited. The tragedy halted activities and emergency responders were summoned to the scene.

Des Moines police report Robert Cabbage age 2 inhaled gasoline fumes from a can and was overcome but is recovering. The incident occurred in Des Moines with no serious injuries reported.
C F McKay and his wife recently moved from Fairbury Nebraska to join Jacobs Fire and Radio Service. A Creighton University graduate pharmacist, McKay brings notable sales experience to the firm as a newcomer to the area.
Washington county board of supervisors focused on securing right of way for Wayland road improvements in Marion township with 25000 WPA funds. Funeral services for Willis Wolfe were held Wednesday at L. A. Jones funeral home conducted by Rev. R. W. Fillmore of Brighton. Pallbearers were six cousins. Burial followed at New Haven cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. W. W. Moore who died yesterday at her home in Ainsworth will be held Saturday at two o clock at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. K. J. Shook. Burial will be in Ainsworth cemetery. Mr. Moore though seriously ill in a hospital at Iowa City will be unable to attend the funeral and is recovering after an operation performed a few days ago. Mrs. J. A. Hawthorne returned yesterday from Wilmington Illinois where she wintered with Mrs. Mary Webb and visited her brother W. A. Forbes.

Brown seeks the county supervisor seat, Ned Morrow eyes the other supervisor post, and incumbents M. E. Coon and Boyd Foster currently hold seats as Democrats. Harriet Coulter seeks a second term as county recorder, Sheriff Harold M Putnam runs for re election, Ethel Grecian seeks renewed auditorship, Er. L. Stewart seeks a second legislative term, Robert R. Noonan seeks a second term as clerk of the district court. County Treasurer Marion S. George is expected to announce soon.
