Nevada farmer Lee Dadisman claims a white Wyandotte hen laid an extraordinary egg weighing six ounces. He says the egg was larger than a typical turkey egg and attributes the feat to the hen.

Mrs W W Moore of Ainsworth died after a several month illness. Her husband, former postmaster, is recovering from an operation at Iowa City hospital. She was born Jan 26 1865 near Ainsworth and married William W Moore on Apr 1 1890. Survived by husband and daughter Mrs Glenn Sands and grandchildren. She held Eastern Star and Kensington club offices and was active in church work. Funeral plans were indefinite.
Work starts Monday on repainting and refurbishing the court house as a WPA project. Eight men will be employed four days a week with WPA funds covering labor and county paying for materials and supervision. The sewing room at the court house will continue with future funds to support it, and NYA will enroll 23 youths in high school with six dollars monthly to assist expenses.
Merle Booth a 13 year old from 1203 North Marion avenue sustained a left arm mangled in a collision with a car driven by Regan Adams of Kalona on North Marion avenue just before noon. He had to have the arm amputated above the elbow after being rushed to the hospital. The boy was returning home from school on roller skates. A quick turn toward the car is cited as a contributing factor by the driver.
Des Moines man Walter Hspinoza of Fort Dodge challenged a Supreme Court appeal arguing the indictment wrongly listed four prior offenses instead of three in a coal theft habitual crime case. He received a three year sentence and seeks reversal on counting grounds.
Des Moines March 19 Attorney General Ed L O Connor said he would not seek re election amid talk that two other prominent Democrats would run He notes his decision follows a Sioux City conspiracy trial setback and as former State Senator M V Cooney enters the race with John H W Mitchell already seeking the nomination for attorney general

The Washington ministerial association has secured Dr. Samuel Garvin, principal of the theological school at Dubuque University, to speak at union Holy Week services the week of April 9 to 12. Services begin at 7 30 p m at the Methodist church with a three hour Good Friday service from 12 30 to 4 00 p m noting Dr Garvin as a renowned pulpit orator and Bible teacher in America.

The Big House High School Forensic Club staged Growing Pains a three act drama about the McIntyre family and their adolescent children. Billy Cox as Professor McIntyre Neta Fetters as Mrs McIntyre and Lawrence Whisler and Marguerite Hardy as the children drew strong reactions from a full auditorium. The cast delivered scenes that felt lifelike with humor and pathos.
Six high ranking officials from alphabet agencies in Iowa protested to Governor Hering against the tax board ruling that New Deal era state income tax applies to employees. They stated 2200 town residents are affected and held a closed session with Chairman John K.

The county welfare office announced that every relief recipient with an able bodied person at home must grow a garden this summer. Gerald Duncan, who supervised last year’s relief gardens, will lead the program from the courthouse starting Monday.
