Gorham Funeral to Beat Olds Sunday
Funeral services for Charles Gorham 84 of Washington will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Congregational church in Olds Iowa with Rev. Shipley in charge. Interment will be in Winfield cemetery. He died after a two year illness born March 20 1866 in Illinois. He married Amanda Newman in Mt Union Dec 31 1888. He was a retail businessman and farmer. Surviving are three sons Ralph Paul and Gene one brother Joe 49 grandchildren and 1 great grandchildren.

Navy Rescues 40 Crew From USS Elder After Fire
The U S S Elder, a net tender, suffered an engine room fire and drifted seven days in the Pacific. Navy rescued all 40 crew, 26 from life rafts and 14 aboard the ship, in good condition. Two Men Injured in Highway 218 Crash
Two cars were destroyed and both drivers injured in a two car collision on Highway 218 about one mile south of the English River bridge yesterday afternoon. Claude Flynn of Riverside vicinity and a Minnesota electrical equipment salesman were hospitalized in Iowa City with brain concussion and knee and facial injuries. Police investigated the crash.
