Parcel post rates rise April 1 in 1964
Postmaster Harry Levy reminded Washington residents that new domestic parcel post rates take effect April 1, 1964 after ICC approval. The average rise is about 13.1 percent, expected to raise roughly 75.4 million annually, with catalog rates up about 13 percent for 2.4 million more if 1962 volumes hold. Air and international parcel post not affected. A six pound local parcel would cost 37 cents instead of 32 cents.

New Baptism Window Installed at St James Church Washington
A new slab glass window was installed in the baptistry of St James Church in Washington within the past week. The faceted glass panels are embedded in a concrete-like matrix instead of lead, depicting the baptism of Jesus by St John and baptismal symbols.
