The Washington High School jazz band Swinging Demons traveled to Jefferson to compete in the annual Jazz Festival, judged by Charles Suber and Don East. Crane Co. announces two personnel moves at its Washington plant. David B. Henderson rises to machine shop foreman second shift, while Steven J. Driscoll joins as a buyer. Henderson, born in Crawfordsville, worked as a Dairy Health Industries supervisor before joining Crane Co. in 1969 as a machine operator. He and his wife Linda and two daughters reside in Crawfordsville. Driscoll, Preston Pennsylvania native, came from Davenport as an automotive additives salesman and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a pilot. He is now in the Marine Corps Reserve in Glenview Illinois with wife Barbara and three sons Donald, Phillip and Scott, living at 806 South Second.
U S planes using laser guided strikes knocked out 12 North Vietnamese tanks but some armor reached the fire support base Lolo in Laos. Reports say a full division was moved into the area as Communist mortar and rocket fire intensified across the border in South Vietnam near Khe Sanh and Sepone.
