In Washington Independent district three candidates vied for two board posts. Marion S. George re elected with 452 votes, John W. Lee with 407, Stanly M. Zager 102, plus one write in for L A Holland. Frank L. Kos elected treasurer with 461 votes and 15 spoiled ballots. A separate bond issue for a new gymnasium in Brighton passed 223 yes to 127 no with 352 votes cast. Pate Jones, Lauren McNeese, Jack Scheeler and Arthur Rich won school board seats. Lawrence Zilinski named treasurer.

New Pastor Installed at Trinity Lutheran Church
After a three month vacancy Trinity Lutheran welcomes Rev. O H Mall and family from Edinburg Illinois. He and his wife Verena served as missionaries in Argentina for nine and seven years before returning in 1947. The installation was led by Rev John Schliepsiek of Iowa City with support from Rev William Tensmeyer Burlington and Rev John Choitz Iowa City. A reception followed in the church basement.
