Spring streak in Washington with sunshine cooling to rain and snow. Clouds moved in Sunday as nearly an inch of rain fell by 7 am then changed to snow, leaving a one inch covering. Traffic neared normal after morning treacherous conditions as temperatures stayed mild.
A group of self declared student radicals at the University of Iowa announced plans for a rock concert to aid the Angela Davis Defense Fund. They said they will sponsor the biggest Iowa concert since the Wadena festival, expressing frustration at previous efforts.
After a 35 minute Republican caucus, House sources said 51 votes favored dumping the 19 year old majority rights proposal to 18. Two more votes could reach 53, with a second conference committee possible as lawmakers delay until 1:30 p.m. in Des Moines.
Page County Attorney J C Irvin said charges would be filed today in the shooting of Shenandoah businessman Jack Foster 65 president of Henry Field Seed and Nursery Co who was wounded in the stomach Sunday by a small caliber pistol.
In Florida the Democratic contest centers on Wallace likely to win with Humphrey and Muskie close behind. Jackson claims to have surpassed Muskie while Lindsay and McGovern spar over busing policy and campaign tactics, as Wallace aims for the 81 delegates.
