Funeral in Omaha Sunday, body to be brought to Elm Grove cemetery for burial if arrangements finalize on arrival of daughter Mrs. Robert Prindle of Cleveland. Survived by daughter four brothers two grandchildren and other relatives.

Mrs. Will McConnell reports the death of her uncle Harve Adams on March 4 in Omaha Nebraska after a three week illness. Adams born in Washington County had lived in the community for a time and was the brother of the late Johny Adams of Ainsworth. He was also uncle to Mrs. Spencer Reed.

Navy Enlisted Men Get New Uniform Design
The navy introduces two new blue uniforms for enlisted men with a zipper front on jackets and belt on trousers replacing webb lacing. Trousers keep bell bottoms with standard pockets. Optional from January 1 1952 and mandatory July 1 1952, old stocks used first. White summer uniforms unchanged. Mrs Wagenknecht and daughter Ruth visit Iowa City today.

Lucky Farmer Marek Shares Life On Small Partnership Farm
Mr. Marek and his owner father operate a livestock farm with Aberdeen Angus cattle and hogs. He attended Iowa State College as did his wife. They married in 1944 and enjoy hobbies including metal turning and spear fishing. The Mareks redecorated their house and are active in Jackson township groups. He will be presented at the State theater on Friday March 17 to receive $40 in merchandise and a photo of his farm.

Local residents inspect new highway post office vehicle
The new highway post office made its initial run with philatelic mail only and will begin a permanent six day schedule on Monday March 13. It toured Des Moines to Muscatine from 1 36 to 2 00 pm with pigeonholes, mailbags, a toilet and layby in the rear and access by two double doors on each side. A similar Des Moines Shenandoah run exists and officials expect a large fleet of these vehicles.

Mrs Homer C Birney 63 of five miles northeast of Washington died at 12 30 p m Saturday after a two week serious illness. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery with services at Jones funeral home Dr Fred E Millar in charge. She was born August 28 1887 in Washington county daughter of James and Mary McCulley McCreedy. She married Homer C Birney November 29 1911 in Washington and lived here all her life. She was active in the Methodist church WSCS rural women’s work and local clubs. Survivors include her husband two sons James W Washington and Richard Sioux City two sisters Ethel and Maud Washington and three grandchildren.
