Two robust slates compete for a local election with rival organizers and candidates nominating teams. Voters face a clear choice between competing platforms as campaigns mobilize across neighborhoods and public forums.
Voters flock to the polls with nearly 400 ballots cast by press time and a forecast of 600 as two tickets lead the race. Candidates are H. E. Steck with Dr Jenkins against C. M. Stinson and H. F. Sampson, with close watch by supporters and local organizers.
The new auditorium hosts Rev. A. L. Davidson who delivers The living Temple with 900 attending the evening service. Fraternal sermons by Rev. J. R. Logue and Rev. H. R. Stark are planned, with several pastors to preach nightly through the week and special memorial and communion sermons scheduled.
Oskaloosa March 7 Special F P Gluck & Co sued Star Bottling Co for whiskey bill. A motion argued liquor debt by a saloon keeper was not collectible by law. Judge Ryan ruled the debt legal and payable, over ruling a contrary Ottumwa decision by Judge Eichelberger.
Des Moines reports the age of consent fixed at 15 by both houses. The measure passed the house almost unanimously and awaits the governor's veto or approval, with potential effect on July 4. A second bill aligns city marshal and police chief roles in cities, passing without opposition and to take effect after governor's signature and July 4 publication.
Federal officers capture a man calling himself J C Love in Albia after he bought vast quantities of butter and eggs across Albia Melrose Tyrone Moravia Sevilla Russell and surrounding towns.
