Newton Boys Sentenced On Burglary Charges
Charles William Alloway 20 and two younger Newton youths pleaded guilty in district court to burglary. They received sentences of up to 10 years in the state reformatory at Anamosa. The two younger boys had their sentences suspended and were placed on parole to their employers or a Newton attorney. Alloway, already paroled after a forgery conviction, will be sent to Anamosa. The crime stemmed from a February 1 lodge hall burglary in which about $30 and two wrist watches were taken.

State council accepts option to buy building for state offices

Two Escaped Prisoners Charged by Federal Grand Jury
Edgar W. Cook and George W. Stubblefield alias Giles, dubbed the toothbrush twins for making keys, were indicted on larceny charges. They escaped from Council Bluffs jail and have crimes traced from Maine to Nebraska. They will be brought to Middlesex County jail to plead on March 13 with heavy guard.

Des Moines district judge Homer A. Fuller 67 died Wednesday night at his Mount Ayr home. A 1898 University of Iowa law graduate, he practiced with Fuller and Fuller and argued notable civil and criminal cases, including the Maytag labor dispute in Newton and farm foreclosure actions in Denison.
