New Assembly of God Pastor to Lead Washington Church
Rev. William E. Kruger will begin duties as pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Washington with a week of special services starting Sunday March 8. He and his wife will reside on church property at 107 South 15th Avenue with their son Billy. Kruger, a 1963 Central Bible Institute graduate, previously worked four months in the New York City Teen Challenge Center aiding drug rehabilitation. the family has since focused on evangelical work in Iowa Missouri and Arkansas. Mrs Kruger also attended Central Bible Institute and writes freelance religious pieces.

Local man stopped after high speed chase in city
Thomas Carl Ward, 21, of Washington, was apprehended by city police after a high speed chase through the city at over 80 mph around 1 10 a m Saturday. His car went off the road at the north end of Second Avenue. Ward is charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was bound over to the grand jury by Justice of the Peace Les Eicher with bail set at 350 dollars.
