Wax film dulls furniture finishes says association
CHICAGO UPI the American Walnut Manufacturers Association warns that excessive wax oil or polish dulls wood finishes. After a survey it advises washing furniture once or twice yearly with mild soap and water followed by a paste wax. For heavily used items more frequent cleaning and waxing may be needed. Low luster finishes should be washed with soap and water only. Delicate boiled oil finishes require occasional oil. If wax was applied it must be removed before further oiling.
