Y Tourney Pairings Announced by Local Association

Drawings for the state YMCA basketball tournament were announced at the Y by the local association's physical committee. Seven teams entered Otumwa Muscatine Burlington Waterloo Washington and two from Oskaloosa. First round games set for 7 pm 8:15 pm and 9:30 pm with semi finals Friday afternoon and finals Friday night. Tickets 25 cents at the door and season tickets 35 cents. Individual medals awarded to top three teams with a 12 inch trophy for the state champion.

Washington county towns ETA signs for pilots painted on rooftops in large letters. Washington Bears Win Sectional Title Over Fairfield

Washington high school captured the Class A sectional basketball title by beating Fairfield 26 to 15 in Fairfield. They advance to the district tournament in Oskaloosa, where they are set to face Oskaloosa in the opening round as six sectional winners compete.

Des Moines March 5 The Iowa house of representatives approved a resolution calling for adjournment at noon Friday marking the 18th week of the special session This third attempt to spur the senate to action comes as the senate shows little hope of speedy adjournment The house addressed the old age pension bill adopted by the senate and accepted 22 amendments while the senate cleared up several minor matters.

Mrs Minnie Hull Hamilton of Long Beach California was killed in an auto accident. Her daughter Mrs Gayle Weih and granddaughter Mrs Dorothy Weith Nichols were expected to recover. Hamilton lived in Wellman most of her life and was the widow of Frank P Hamilton.
