A Council Bluffs police officer suffered a jaw injury after biting into an apple at a local grocery. The incident prompted medical treatment and an investigation into the cause of the dislocation.
Judge Burke N. Carson of Iowa City fined himself one dollar and refused to suspend the penalty after parking across a driveway while attending a basketball game last Saturday night. A ticket was observed on his car on return.

Fresno March 4 Aerial search for the missing Transcontinental & Western airliner, believed to have crashed in the mountains east of Fresno with nine lives lost, began as weather cleared. Two planes led by TWA vice president Paul Richter and aviator Jack Snyder, aided by eight Commerce Department reps and reporters, started the search with twelve planes expected to follow.
Temperatures in the twenties today are expected to climb to 35 degrees by tomorrow. The storm spans southern Wisconsin Michigan northern Indiana and northern Illinois with heavy rains reported in southern portions of Illinois and Indiana.

New Rochelle New York March 4 The disappearance of twelve year old Peter Levine between his school and home enters its second week with no direct contact between his father Murray Levine and any kidnappers. The only communication so far has been through the press and radio. reports of a possible telephone talk with a kidnapper remain unconfirmed.

Incumbents Claude Acker and Dr T J Pease seek re election with Frank Kos also filing for treasurer. With no other candidates, the ballot will list Tucker Pease and Dr Pease for directors and Mr Kos for treasurer.
