Riverside plant turns newsprint into insulation ECON product
Iowa Insulation, Inc. near Riverside began producing cellulose insulation from recycled newspapers. The plant, named ECON, aims for 30,000 lbs daily and about 15 workers, using a borate mix for fire resistance. Production includes sorting, hammermilling, and packaging into 30-lb bags with 25 lbs paper and 5 lbs chemical per bag.

Indictment in Iowa liquor real estate probe lands four charged
DES MOINES UPI Iowa real estate manager Leslie D Pinckney pleaded innocent to three bribery counts and two conspiracy counts in nine indictments by a Polk County grand jury. Other arraigned defendants include Rolland Gallagher Donald R Tietz and Chris Hemmen. Gallagher faces gifts misconduct. Tietz and Hemmen charged with bribery and conspiracy.
