County 4-H Members Selected for Citizenship Shortcourse
Twenty one Washington County 4-H members will attend the Citizenship Shortcourse in Washington D C from June 28 to July 6. Two buses carry about 80 older 4-H members from Washington Johnson Cedar and Iowa counties. Delegates will hear speakers discuss government agencies and meet peers from six states at the National 4 H Center.

Norway exchange student undergoes emergency appendectomy
Miss Britt Louise Nyman of Norway, a high school foreign exchange student with the Rotary Tour, had an emergency appendectomy Sunday night at Washington County Hospital. She will remain in hospital for a week in Media, Pennsylvania, and is expected to rejoin the tour at Lake Tahoe next weekend.

Wellman Plans Fourth of July Celebration Highlights
Wellman hosts a full Fourth lineup with two parades, an antique show, Little League, talent show, chicken barbecue, fireworks, and dancing. Parades begin 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. downtown, featuring Pork and Beef Queens, a six horse hitch, and clowns.
