Shortcut route into Keokuk drawn for travelers
Mt. Pleasant resident Gene Carriker says a new shortcut to Keokuk adds only about three miles to the usual Mt. Pleasant to Keokuk run. The detour avoids the 218 repaving closure by taking a southward path from Mt. Pleasant to Salem, then Lowell road, West Point, and a turn onto highway 2 east to the junction with 61 into Keokuk.
