Darrell Witt of Washington is among 25 State University of Iowa students awarded a full tuition scholarship to the College of Medicine for 1962 63. Witt, a SUI pharmacy graduate with honors, lived at 62842 West Main Street while his wife taught at Stewart School. The scholarship is funded by the Avalon Foundation and Iowa Clinical Medical Society.

Albert J. Donovan 92, native of Washington County, died at 5 a.m. today at Washington County Hospital after months of illness. He lived at 722 East Main Street and was a retired farmer with hobbies in race horses. Survived by sister Mary Donovan of Washington. another sister Kate Donovan predeceased him. Funeral set for 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Soblen to be deported from Israel under unclear terms
Isreal informed the United States Robert Soblen will be deported Sunday but not to any specific country. Officials say there is no guarantee U.S. authorities can detain him after expulsion. Soblen, 62, fled the United States to avoid a life sentence for spying for the Soviet Union and was arrested in Israel on suspicion of using a false Canadian passport.
