Livestock prices show sparse weights around Be Ibs 18.00 with few lots over 350 Ibs at low prices. Sows under 60 Ibs 16.76 to 17.50, heavier weights 11.50 to 18.00. Sheep weak with demand narrowly balanced. spring lambs top at 26.00, most 24.60 to 25.50. Cattle and calves active with steers 25.75 to 27.50, cows 16.00 to 18.00, vealers 25.10 down. Overall trimmed demand and mixed bulk values across sections.
Grain prices for wheat corn and soybeans shown for July September March May and December contracts with open high low and close values. Figures include percent changes and price ranges across contract months and years for Chicago Grain table readers.
Mrs J H Jones reports a Sunday dinner hosted by Mr and Mrs Earl Walker. Guests included Henry Kissinger and Mr and Mrs Harold Kissinger and family of Morning Sun, Mr and Mrs Custis Whissiney and family, Mr and Mrs Feed Ste Mars, Jones phenson and daughter, Mr and Mrs Lester Crouch and sons, Mr and Mrs Earl Lowe and family, Mr and Mrs Howell Davis and family. The Davises and Walkers visited with Ruth Davis at Hawkeye Girls state in Grinnell College, then toured Brooklyn Iowa en route home.
A stream of guests and relatives visited in the Wayland area over the weekend. Shirley Brown spent two weeks with relatives in Davenport and Caro. Local residents, including the Steeckels, the Hammonds, and the Williams family, hosted and visited friends in Davenport Burlington and Des Moines.
Weekly sales announced for Whittaker sale barn each Friday. Livestock auctions held at Midway Sales Company Columbus Junction on Wednesdays. Kalona Sales Barn Kalona hosts livestock sales on Thursdays. Ollie Livestock Exchange Ollie schedules Tuesday 1:00 PM sales.
