Funeral of Mrs Busby Held Today
Funeral services for Mrs W. W. Busby were held this afternoon at the L A Jones funeral home with Dr A W Henke of the Methodist church officiating. Burial followed at Elm Grove. Mrs Busby died Saturday evening at her home 608 East Mashinton Street after a long illness. She was born September 1 1860 in Vinton County Ohio and came to town with her mother in 1868. She married C W Busby in 1881 and is survived by Harley S Busby Bessie Busby Harvey Busby Mrs Vernon Crull and Mrs Joseph McConnell of Tacoma Washington and one sister Mrs J G Fordyce of Washington. She was active in the Methodist church and temperance work with the W C T U.

Paris reports the Rhineland was returned to Germany today after 11 years under French occupation. Gen Guillaumat left command as the area reverted to German control under the Young plan terms. Only two French battalions remained at Wiesbaden and Mainz.

Lightning Strikes Berdo Garage on Farm
A private garage on the Berdo farm northwest of town was struck by lightning this morning, destroying a new automobile and the structure. Neighbors secured a broader house nearby, despite a out of service telephone line. Howard Hazen, a printer at the Journal office, was injured in a separate car accident near Wellman but unhurt. Mr and Mrs Orval Chasey of Richland visited the Mochlands over the weekend.

Washington June 30 Harvey W Wiley pioneer for pure foods and drugs and sponsor of the pure food and drug act died at his home here this morning after an illness of several days He was 85 years old Death occurred at 2 15 a m The noted health specialist suffered a heart attack shortly after leaving the senate committee protesting changes in the administration of the pure food and drug act Wiley headed the chemistry department and advocated the act from 1906 signed by President Roosevelt when he left government service he said he was handicapped in its enforcement by higher officials

Ex convict arrested in double murder here
A 35 year old ex convict Emmett Peacock was arrested as a suspect in the murders of Sheriff Fred Sweet and Marshal Aaron Bailey. Fingerprints matched a machine used by the killer. Peacock denied knowledge and was jailed for questioning after being returned to Cedar Rapids for custody.
