Iowa reports indicate Governor Herring plans a special session in September to address tax revision and government reorganization. The session faces internal opposition over liquor control, fiscal policy, and the Beatty Bennett tax cuts amid party divisions and election considerations.
Des Moines reports show Assistant Secretary H. C. Aaberg cites 1932 gains in Iowa legume acreage with soybeans rising from 126 372 to 185 113 acres. Alfalfa tonnage up about 64 percent to 1 403 625 tons and hay represents roughly one third of Iowa's total crop.
Iowa farmers in Des Moines vote for a Washington parley with administration farm authorities to reduce 1934 corn acreage. A committee drafts a resolution for A. G Black of Ames to lead the new relief effort and aims to convene 12 corn belt states to raise corn and hog prices.
An Oskaloosa man attempted to take a truckload of roadside rock west of town. The owner reported the theft, authorities intervened, and the man agreed to return the rock. Sheriff McCarty and State Highway Frink said no prosecution if the rocks are returned. Similar incidents have occurred in nearby counties.
Sixteen of the required thirty six states have approved repeal. California and West Virginia joined the list yesterday with California voters favoring repeal by about three to one. In West Virginia veterans lead on returns by a clear margin.

Dominick Melia aged 40 was shot on the hospital steps after an altercation over a $20 debt with Pietro Parrotia 44 who surrendered to town marshal John J. Clark claiming self defense after Melia threatened him with a gun. Charles Simmering from southeast of Washington is spending the day here.
A party of 35 Iowa City businessmen in 15 cars with a 12 piece band and two accordions visited Washington yesterday as part of a 15 town tour to boost the Fourth of July celebration in the university town. They traveled 150 miles with Washington as the halfway point.

Harry H. Waxenbure of Davenport purchased the stock and fixtures of the Family Shoe Store on North Marion Avenue and moved the property by truck. The sale was conducted by trustee T. A. Michels and referee in bankruptcy T. L. Brookhart after the store had been closed for months.
Des Moines June 28. Southern Iowa farmers led by Assistant Secretary Aaberg and Dr. C. J. Drake of Ames launch day and night efforts to protect crops from chinch bugs. Drake says infestation is worsening in corn fields across southern counties. Creosote oil supplies to be unloaded today at Creston Keokuk Chariton Bloomfield Ottumwa as losses mount with up to 75 percent in Clark Decatur and Ringgold counties and about 30 percent in Union county.
Wheat prices on the Chicago board of trade fell today with drops up to six cents. Volume showed wild swings as prices opened six cents lower, rose four cents, then dipped again. May opened at 1.07 and closed around 99 cents amid rain in the southwest and broad declines across grains.
