If 75 percent of families participate, the campaign aims to curb disease spread from the common fly and infantile paralysis risk. J E Lemmon celebrates 44th anniversary of owning the southeast corner drug store in Washington since June 22 1902. He recalls fellow early entrepreneurs Fred Stewart C L Lemmon and Lieye tytle still in business and notes city changes from board walks to paved streets and improved sidewalks. Bridge collapses under road machine near Honey Creek
A 45 foot steel bridge west of Brighton gave way under a county caterpillar bulldozer in a dry creek bed. The driver Charles Curll of Brighton escaped unhurt as the bridge and machine sank into the bed, the span dated likely 59 years ago.

Four Points Still Open In OPA Bill Conference
The joint senate house conference on the OPA measure recessed until Monday night amid four major disputes. Alben Barkley said agreement exists on giving the agriculture secretary authority over pricing and decontrol of agricultural products, but four points remain unsettled including a non agricultural decontrol board, decontrol of meat and dairy items, length of extension of OPA power, and subsidy totals for the next year.

Driving Licenses Rush in County as Applications Rise
The county reports 4 194 driving license applications to date, with over 1 000 filed in the last two days. Yesterday 540 came from Washington and Ainsworth, 524 on Thursday at Crawfords ville and Washington. Four clerks handle applications in the courthouse lobby today. Next week portions will be sent to other towns with Kalona Monday Wellman Tuesday Brighton Wednesday West Chester Thursday and Rubio Friday. Receipts are issued to each applicant until the license arrives by mail from Des Moines.
