New Trinity Pastor Will Be Installed on Sunday Evening
The Rev. Alfred E. Bertke will be installed as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, 302 East Second, in a 7 p.m. service led by the Rev. Marcus T. Zill of Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. John Constable performing the rite. Bertke, a Concordia Seminary graduate, will reside at 409 East Main Street and also serve St. John’s Lutheran in Wellman.

Earl G. Stewart 71 of Ottumwa died Sunday after a two week illness following a heart attack. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 2 p m at Johnson Funeral Home Ottumwa. He was born January 3 1889 in Newton and lived in Des Moines Washington and Ottumwa. He married Tressa Dewees August 24 1950 and is survived by five stepchildren. Burial will be in Schrock Cemetery.

Medicine Man Mail Order Firm Shut Down by Judge Graven
Federal district Judge Henry N. Graven put out of business a mail order "medicine man" after convicting William H. Hagedorn of six counts of mail fraud. Hagedorn, 72, Manning, was sentenced to three years probation but would face prison if he resumed selling his liniment or any remedy. The government contends the liniment had no curative value for humans or animals.
