At the Iowa Blacksmiths and Welders convention in Cedar Rapids, 19 year old Donald Porter of Reinbeck displayed a home made tractor and wagon built in his father H A Porter’s shop. Porter used a washing machine motor a Chevrolet transmission and a Ford rear axle to craft a working vehicle that tops about eight miles per hour.

Plane crash ends practice flight at Iowa State College
