Confiscation Referendum Fails in Germany on Hohenzollern Estates
Berlin June 21 The vast lands of Wilhelm Hohenzollern and other former rulers will remain safe from confiscation after a nationwide referendum failed to reach the required half of eligible voters. Only 35 percent endorsed confiscation, with 60 percent abstaining, and over 100000 ballots were defective. The vote split regions such as Bavaria and industrial centers, signaling a political setback for the socialist-led coalition. Doorn Holland also reported the German plebiscite outcome with no celebration at the Kaiser’s residence.
