Weekend crashes across Iowa killed six people, pushing 1955 toll to 252. Cora Mae Luell 63 died after a two car crash on Iowa 110 north of Schaller. Marshalltown boy Michael Dean Krouch eight died when his car rolled over near Le Grand. Richard Townsend 22 and William Hess 24 died near Clarksville after their car hit a culvert on a gravel road. Irene Bess 18 remained in critical condition in Charles City. Truck driver J E Knoll 41 died in Jewell after a jackknifed semi. Michael Conway 20 fatally injured near Jefferson after a collision with a truck.

The Baptist church vacation Bible school concluded Friday after a two week term. A program and pupil articles were on display. Miss Carol Forgey led, Rev. Earl Longfellow directed songs, Marvin Lowry served as secretary, and a dedicated teaching staff assisted. Daily attendance ranged from 96 to 107.

Fire damages Sea Food Grotto in downtown Des Moines
