House Committee Rejects Other Proposed Controls

The House banking committee rejected administration requests to curb commodity speculation and to impose credit curbs on conventional housing financing. The panel also backed limited rent ceiling extensions for many tenants while maintaining existing controls on new and government financed homes. The votes were 14 to 6 and 12 to 8, with some Democrats aligned with Republicans.

Dr. P. B. D. Boekelheide is Riverside’s lone physician praised for care and humility. Chaplain Captain Paul K Wells former pastor of the First Baptist church here received the Bronze Star in General Orders 802 HQ 25th Infantry Division dated May 26 1951 for service as Regimental Chaplain in Korea from July 31 to November 2 1950 His calm courage and devotion aided morale during front line service Mrs Ranald Hotle sister to Wells traveled to Washington during his pastorate and now resides with family at 514 North Second Street Clinton Iowa.

Richard McDole Killed in Korea at 38

Richard McDole 38 son of Delbert C McDole of Washington and brother of Mrs Warren Hampton Mrs Lyle Imbre e and Bill McDole was killed in action May 27 in Korea. He served 20 years and was a veteran of World War I in the European theater. He is survived by wife Helen two sisters four children Teddy Judy Patty Richard Lester MeDole and another brother Vat MeDole. His brother Robert Eugene preceded him in death.

R L Van Meter Dies At Home In Cedar Rapids

R L Van Meter of Washington died in his sleep at his Cedar Rapids home Tuesday. He was 60 and served as president of the Van Meter company, a wholesale electrical supply firm.
