Henry Red Dougherty, 34, forced entry at the Gronen home after a maid date refusal and pleaded guilty to breaking and entering. District Judge P. J. Nel granted parole following the lengthy sentence.
Mason City council renews 60 beer permits and rejects dance licenses for the Blue Moon cafe and the Moose social club citing policy that beer should not be sold where public dances occur.
Humboldt Donald Christian sen suffered burns when another boy placed a lit firecracker inside his shirt and it exploded. Mayor C. W. Garfield imposed a sale ban on fireworks until July 4.
Lil Reimveck Louis Rickert, a student nurse, suffered serious skull fractures after an assault in her room at St Luke’s hospital Chicago. She has returned to her parents’ home to recuperate.
King Thompson of Cedar Rapids Linn County personally ordered certain games at a local carnival closed for the remainder of the show. He urged officers to ensure those games do not reopen and insisted on direct action rather than proxies.

Milford Anderson is in Washington county hospital today after a hay fork injury to his left leg. The fork pierced eight inches of muscle and went through skin and tissue, just below the knee, in the barn at his home northwest of town. The accident happened shortly before five o clock and he was taken to the hospital immediately. reports today are favorable.
A weather note reports Washington temperatures warming through the week with highs near 74 on Thursday and about 99 on Friday. Earlier in the week Tuesday reached 98 degrees, while Wednesday’s high is unclear due to incomplete text.

Owen of Assiut Egypt a United Presbyterian missionary will lecture at the closing exercises of the union daily vacation Bible school at the U P church Sunday evening The talk will be brief with music and pupil exercises in three departments of the school a Methodist and United Presbyterian enterprise.
Mayor Thomas F. E. Martin a leading Iowa Republican will address the Washington Country Republican Women's club at Sunset Park next Wednesday at 2 30 pm. He chaired the state GOP convention and just returned from Cleveland after attending the national convention. He is a lawyer and among the most informed GOP leaders in Iowa. The park meeting place will be announced on Monday.
The Sac and Fox tribe with Chief Young Bear will perform in full regalia at the Washington County celebration. The event reenacts early tribal life before 1836 and Black Hawk War影 with ceremonial dances, games, and pow wows.
Centennial booster trips start next week led by Cloid Willits and coordinators. The schedule lists departures from City Hall at 6:00 PM with ward-specific cars and town arrivals from June 22 to 25, featuring speakers Glen Mace and Theodore Halley and calls for county residents to join in the events.

Governor Clyde L. Herring boarded a plane for Philadelphia to attend the Democratic national convention. He stated he would not seek the vice presidential nomination and that Vice President Harry S. Truman remains a candidate for re nomination.

Mrs Thomas J Brady longtime Washington resident died at Methodist hospital Des Moines of pneumonia. Funeral plans set as body to Shermans funeral home. Son Clifford Brady to accompany. She recently sold her Washington home and had planned to move to Des Moines after her husband died last November in an Iowa City hospital.
