Work or Fight Order Reaches Des Moines Iowa Officials
Des Moines reports that the public service reserve will carry out the work or fight order. H J Metcalf and A L Urick returned from Washington where they attended a conference of public service reserve workers and state labor officials. Four field agents will be in Iowa by July 1 to check registered men and coordinate with local draft boards. Enlistment cards signal readiness for emergency farm labor shipyard work or other government needs.
