Plane crash in Winterset kills local pilot
Winterset man Edward J. Hartley Jr., 42, a mail carrier, died after his homemade single engine Catler Racer crashed into a corn field near the Winterset airport around 6:50 p.m. Police and a trooper who witnessed the crash described the plane diving nose down from about 1,000 feet. He was dead on arrival at Madison County Hospital.

Festival to celebrate St Johns River cleanup in Jacksonville
