Eastern Star District 21 Session Opens in East Des Moines
The 21st district of the Eastern Star opened with a banquet at 6:30 pm at the Methodist church attended by nearly 600 members. A three course meal served by the Ladies Aid featured yellow and white decor and garden flowers. An Eastern Star orchestra performed, followed by a Washington chapter No. 98 program with multiple speakers, solos, and introductions. District officers and grand officers were announced and presented, with a luncheon honoring guests including Harriet McMasters and Foster G. Iddlings.

Paul Shaw a Cedar Rapids aviator nearly lost his airplane Thursday evening after landing in a pasture on the Wilbur Gardner farm near Ainsworth. The aircraft began moving without a pilot and crashed into a fence then into Phil Gerdes oats field, causing under-carriage damage and broken braces. Shaw planned to repair the plane today to depart tomorrow from Illinois to Cedar Rapids.
