Iowa counties vote bonds for road paving in June elections
In Des Moines June 15 two Iowa counties approved road bond issues to fund primary paving and one defeated a highway paving plan. Harrison County backed 3 652 to 2 481 to issue 1 000 000 dollars for primary roads including Lincoln highway. Lee County approved 1 488 000 dollars for federal highways 61 and 161 and primary 103, with 8 652 to 1 505 in favor. Webster County rejected a 1 500 900 bond issue by over 2 000, while paying questions failed 2 142 to 4 982 and bond issue 2 145 to 4 973. Other counties plan future votes with Montgomery set for June 27 on 600 000 bond issue and Clarke and Grundy counties preparing campaigns for 600 000 and road paving projects.

Johnson County will unveil an eighteen mile paving project from Iowa City to the county line on July fourth. Eleven miles were laid last fall and four more were finished this week. A three week curing period precedes public opening, with work then moving to Oxford road and continuing toward Muscatine County.
