Editorial reflections on Middle East and taxes in Iowa
The piece blends a Cedar Rapids Gazette editorial on the Arab‑Israel conflict and US policy with Minnesota and Iowa tax notes. It discusses US relations with Arab nations after a short Middle East war, the US stance on Gulf of Aqaba, and the prospect of repairing Arab perceptions. It also reports Minnesota adopting a 3 percent sales tax, notes Nebraska's 21/2 percent rate, and Iowa facing shifts toward higher sales taxes to replace property taxes, amid border-town concerns.
