End the Strike Against Hudson Ends After Pact
The CIO United Automobile Workers ended a two day strike at Hudson Motor Car after signing a two year peace pact with Packard. About 15 000 workers had been off the job since Wednesday as talks continued on production and new wage terms. The agreement provides 7 000 hourly workers with 15 cent an hour raises and retroactive pay from April 25, plus other salary boosts and a clause to reopen wage talks once during the term. Union agrees to drop certain suits totaling 44 million and 1 765 000 in super seniority claims. Estimated annual cost to Hudson is 2.6 million.

Washington Box Scouts Plan Waste Paper Drive Monday
About 50 of 69 Scouts in Washington will collect waste paper next Monday at eight in the morning, aided by four trucks from four town troops. Headquarters will be at St Easter south of the square on Low n avenue, where bundles should be placed by eight on the front porch or curb for pickup. The drive aims for several tons and helps replenish the Scouts treasury as paper remains in short supply.

Council Plans for Sewage Disposal
At a special meeting Mayor G. E. Mace and councilmen discussed correcting the east end sewage disposal nuisance with engineer Howard R. Green of Cedar Rapids. A concrete step toward new disposal arrangements was approved, and a federal loan was planned to fund a survey of the east end sewer system.
