Wool stock to be released tax free for war effort
Des Moines reports indicate five million dollars of British owned wool stored at Creston will be released tax free. Attorney General Rankin ruled the wool belongs to the government of Great Britain and is held for public purposes supporting the war effort, exempt from taxation under comity of nations. Donald Evans informed Kenneth Davenport of the Union County board of supervisors of the ruling.

Bus Hearing Scheduled at Oskaloosa

Bullet Wound Fatal To Boy at Clarion
Richard Anderson aged 14 died in a hospital after a high powered rifle shell fired from a fountain pen type tear gas gun exploded in his face. He had loaded the device with a $.30 shell, the bullet entered through his mouth and lodged at the back of his head.
