Cliff MebDou gall of the Tom Mix circus telegraphed Peggy Ann Lindon daughter of Gov Alt Landon probable Republican presidential candidate offering to send one of the circus elephants for use at the Cleveland convention. Governor Landon and his daughter were guests of the circus last week at Topeka Kansas.
Rev William Kent pastor of the Little Brown Church of the Vale married Margaret O Grier at Deep River and Lloyd Knypp at Cedar Rapids in Nashua. He had performed 3 000 marriage ceremonies at the shrine in six years.
Two Marshalltown police officers captured a red fox inside the city despite a local bounty on foxes. Authorities hold the animal as a potential pet, delaying removal until its status is determined.

County Engineer W P Rawn reports the Wayland road upgrade will be listed for letting by the state highway commission at Ames on Tuesday June 23. Administrative engineer C Coykendall confirms publication in the June 18 bulletin. Plans include grading a new bridge and crushed rock surfacing between Washington and Wayland, with work likely starting within weeks.

Mrs. W. D. Townsley 79 died at 3 a m today at her West Madison home after a period of declining health. Born Laetitia N. Trotman April 7 1857 in Ohio she married W D Townsley in 1882. no children. She was a United Presbyterian member. Funeral Saturday 2 30 p m at L A Jones funeral home conducted by Rev Dr Fulton with burial in Elm Grove cemetery.
At Cleveland June 11 Herbert Hoover received a hero’s welcome as an invited speaker. He denounced the New Deal as socialist and fascist, urged a holy crusade for liberty, and challenged Republicans to defend constitutional freedoms and resist government expansion.

Marcella Little, 14, daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Little, is in critical condition at Washington County Hospital after a pasture incident Tuesday. The kick from a horse struck her abdomen causing peritonitis and delirium. The family seeks the father, away on a tour, who has not been reached.
