About 650 Iowa boys gather in Grinnell for the American Legion Hawkeye Boys State. The program simulates state government with a governor and officials elected under a party system. The camp runs today through next Monday with participants staying in Grinnell College dormitories.
Myron A. Miller of Bode received 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to transporting a stolen motor vehicle from Illinois to Iowa. Webster Brothers Conover Manufacturing Co. of Mason City and trucker Fred Stockberger were fined 300 dollars and 200 dollars respectively for moving a Missouri to Iowa shipment without an interstate commerce certificate of necessity.
Henry O. Hale seeks to quiet title to part of the $800000 estate of his late wife Elizabeth C. Hale. The hearing before Federal Judge Gunnar H. Nordbye hinges on a preexisting contract that, if valid, would have the survivor inherit the others property. Hale argues the later wills do not invalidate that agreement.

For the fifteenth year a group of about 20 boys and girls from Howell Neighborhood House in Chicago will visit Washington this summer. Mrs. L. E. President Roosevelt will speak Sunday afternoon in observance of Flag Day and to mark Mexico joining the United Nations as the 27th signatory. The ceremony at the White House will include Mexico's envoy and a Philippine representative, with the president’s remarks recorded and aired later on a special Flag Day program.
