The three remaining Wyccott siblings at the Florence Crittenden home in Sioux City held a tea party for their third birthday. Lester Lavern and Lavenne Wycoff are children of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Wycoff of Sac City.
Iowa City man 60 identified as painter found dead in the basement of the reserve library at the University of Iowa by steamfitter Don Beatty. He suffered a fractured skull and had been dead about six hours, with investigators believing he collapsed while walking during the night.
Guthrie Center report states Wissianger of Arkansas county Missouri, serving a six month term for forgery, walked away from the Guthrie county jail while on outside duty as a trusty. The escape occurred as he left town on foot.
Iowa City Professor Joseph Tiffin associate professor of psychology and speech at the University of Iowa resigns after ten years to join Brooklyn College New York as head of a phonetics laboratory. He will start his new post September 1.
A burglar gained entry by throwing iron through a window at H. Othmer Foodhaven No. 2 in Waterloo and took $250 in cash from a hiding place behind the butter. Two checks for $83 and $15 were also stolen.
Onae wa John H Thompson lived alone on a farm and could not contact neighbors when ill. He wrote a note and placed it on a broomstick, crawled to the road, and set the stick to attract attention. A boy found the note and alerted his parents, who rescued the man and rushed him to hospital, where he died next morning from a ruptured appendix.
The body of 79 year old Mrs A J Norton was found dead at her Creston home Tuesday night. Union County coroner Dr Beatty said she died of heart disease and her body was hidden by a bed after she apparently fell. Her son Charles Kellogg, who lives with her, was unaware of the death.
In Tivton Iowa Mrs Milo Randa was charged with assault with intent to commit murder after stabbing her husband, a local butcher shop proprietor, with a butcher knife at the shop. He required twenty stitches for a deep cut on the upper left arm. At a preliminary hearing Justice Gillam noted the knife slipped from her hand while she wore an opening tier. Two years earlier the couple had a divorce suit and an injunction related to business interference, which was later dissolved.
A daily vacation Bible school will open at the Prairie Flower church on Monday afternoon. Rev. C. EB Strong announced the program, with teachers including Rev. and Mrs. Strong, Mable and Virginia Wiley, Mrs. Troy Forin, and other helpers. Mrs Strong will lead the music, and Mable Wiley will be a pianist.
Miss Lankwardt of Burlington donates 73 acres of wooded land inside the city adjoining Crapo park as a memorial to her parents and brother. The gifted property, valued around $50,000, stands as the finest gift to the public in the city.

Funeral services for Mrs John A Pergquist were held yesterday afternoon at the L A Jones funeral home with Dr Arthur Atack in charge. Pallbearers named were Lyman Bunce Will Fordyce Will Dupuis Axel Andernou James Zeck and Edwin Griffith. Burial followed in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Mary E. Lytle named director to supervise summer playground work in Washington using Centennial Heights Lincoln Wallace and 8th James schools. NYA and Parent-Teacher Association back the project with Clarence Logan Helen Creswell and others on the youth council assisted by Mary Ellen Lytle. The Davenport NYA district director William Huff met local leaders and will send a helper. program includes supervised games handcraft and friendly competitions for boys and girls in the afternoons.
Des Moines reports the fourth victim of a Mediapolis bus truck crash. Miss Mary Hester Cunningham, 21, of Madison Missouri, a State University of Iowa graduate, died from skull fractures and injuries. Her mother, who had just witnessed graduation, also perished in the collision along with Mrs Len McLain, 52, of Pocahontas Iowa.
A seven year old boy, Harold Watson son of Mrs Mildred Watson 738 South Second Avenue, fractured his left thigh in a south town incident on a city garbage wagon driven by Willis Beatty. He and neighbor Billy Kelly had jumped on and off the moving wagon despite warnings. while dislodged from the wagon in a rut on South Third Avenue the injury occurred.
William Kraemer of Brighton High School took first honors in the state general science test known as the brain derby at Iowa City, earning the gold key of scholarship. Miram Stannard placed third in biology, with fellow Brighton students Jean Eyestone, Gordon Stout, Carvey Spielman, Myrtle Crandall, and Jean Messer also taking part.
The American Legion in Wellman hosts a county Legion gathering on June 17 at 7 39 PM in the Oakwood pavilion. Music by a brass quartet, community singing, readings, and an address by Frank Miles of Des Moines are featured. All ex service men and Auxiliary members are urged to attend, including those not yet enrolled.

Standards limit kernel advancement beyond milk stage for oats barley flax and similar grains and require uniform green plant appearance with gray areas allowed in dry weather. Proof of compliance must be a community committee member’s signed statement or, as a backup, two neighbor statements. The two-neighbor proof is favored to cut costs.

Funeral services for George KE Crone were conducted yesterday at L. A. Jones funeral home by Rev. M. C. Carstenson with assistance from Fey Arthur Atack. Pallbearers named Willard Hunter Max Donaldson Franklin Brower Paul Moore Elda Lewis and Glenn Fuhr. Burial followed at Elm Grove cemetery.
