Two Ottumwa Men Hurt in Highway 1 Crash
Two Ottumwa men suffered minor injuries early Sunday when their car flipped while traveling south on Highway 1. Driver Ronnie Craig Wagner fell asleep, crossed the center line, and the Opel rolled over after attempting to return to his lane, causing about 1800 in damage. Passenger Steve David Hutton was uninjured.

Two missing Brighton youths found after eight days
Tony and Tim Soto aged 14 and 13 were found Sunday night by foster parents Mr and Mrs Cletus Sieren on the north side of Lake Darling eight days after running away from home. They had survived a day near the lake by eating cattails and sustained insect bites but were in satisfactory condition and taken to a doctor.

Freight Train Derails East of Cotter Clearups Continue
An eastbound Hock Island Lines freight train derailed early Sunday near Cotter Town. No cause is yet determined. All derailed cars have been cleared and rail traffic to Kansas City from Davenport is back to normal. Section crews had been repairing the line earlier.

Weekend thefts strike Washington Firestone Store and gas bulk plant
Washington police reported thefts over the weekend including a tape player and cassettes from the Firestone Store at the city edge and about 50 gallons of gasoline from a 300 gallon tank across from Fritz's Tap. Seven killed on Iowa highways over weekend
