Fire officials say a vacant Cedar Rapids home owned by the Iowa Highway Commission was set on purpose in the kitchen area. The dwelling, slated for demolition due to the proposed Interstate 380 route, suffered heavy damage on Tuesday night.
Soviet Premier Kosygin told an election meeting in Moscow that the USSR would cut forces in Europe if NATO states demonstrate a sincere stance on bilateral withdrawals. He warned against Western maneuvers while urging negotiated reductions as a new phase in European security.
