Victory for James I. Dolliver of Fort Dodge in the sixth district Republican congressional nomination race was conceded by Representative Fred Gilchrist of Laurens. Gilchrist, 76, in Congress since 1930, sent Dolliver a wire of congratulations before complete unofficial returns showed Dolliver ahead by 1,157 votes.

Elliott P. Taylor of Newton and Fairfield dies at home of his daughter Mrs. Julia Black after a long Civil War service. A former Co. M 4th Iowa Cavalry participant from 1861 to 1865 he led the Iowa G A R as commander in 1942 and attended Iowa encampments until the Fort Dodge session. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 p m at the Glassgow Methodist church.

Child dies after street accident in town
Lewis Dean Horna six year old son of Mr and Mrs Loren Horns was killed Tuesday while playing in a street. He darted into the path of a truck driven by Ray Staley and was thrown under the wheels according to Coroner Garland Hancock. No inquest will be held.

Three Keokuk men employed by Merrick Roofing Co. were seriously burned Tuesday when a tar heating kettle exploded during repairs on a Main Street roof. Nelson Calhoun suffered second degree burns to the face arms eyes and back as his clothing ignited. Dick Higby sustained burns to the face and neck and Edward Arthur suffered burns to the face and arm.

James F. Cameron Dies of Heart Attack at 57
James F. Cameron, 57, died suddenly at his home on 809 North Marion Avenue. The body was taken to L. A. Jones Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife and two sons Richard and Kenneth. Cameron was a Baptist and a member of the VFW and served in the Rainbow Division during World War I.
