Theresa John Smith aged six fell twenty feet from a railroad trestle while playing cowboy with her brother James. She sustained wrist fractures and bruises. James Gaidy eleven, attempted to catch her and was bruised.
Des Moines reports 96 year old Confederate veteran George Isaac Hughes recently became father to his seventeenth child. He says his ambition is to reach twenty by the time he turns 100, noting his present wife, 28, has borne him two of ten children.
Claus Burg 77 and Charles S. Burg 74 died in Sioux City two hours apart. Claus Burg retired in 1929 after 20 years with the Great Northern railroad. Charles Burg was a Minneapolis and Omaha railroad blacksmith 16 years and retired in 1922.
Thirty two prisoners remain behind bars as city health officials quarantine the jail. An 18 year old inmate was sent to the isolation hospital for examination after suspected spinal meningitis.
Ernold Tilley, an escaped farm hand, was captured Friday afternoon in a barn hayloft near Rodman by Sheriff Bert Montgomery and Deputy Tom McCaffery. He was cut on the head during the takedown as officers used pitchforks to search the hay. Tilley, unarmed, refused to say where he obtained the saw used to escape.
A former Marshalltown man, Steveter, visited his old town and learned an account under W. B. Streeter at Fidelity Bank had accrued $166 in interest. Local officers noted the sum as a notable windfall tied to the visiting man.

A June 6 explosion leveled the Gamble store on Tama Iowa main street. The two story building collapsed, adjacent shops including Schaller cleaning Addington bakery and a barber shop were damaged. At least one death reported and several injured as a fire followed the blast.
Mrs David W Ferguson age 76 died at 1 20 PM at her Havre home after a stroke on February 11 during a heavy snow blockade. She had two daughters Mrs Etta Reeves and Mrs Lewis Hering both of Havre. Funeral arrangements are with L A Jones funeral home and may be held Monday at 2 PM at the funeral home.
The Union vacation church school for Methodist and United Presbyterian congregations will start Monday at 9 A M and run two weeks with three departments for different age groups at the two churches. The Christian Church School will open Monday at 9 A M for three weeks with primary junior and intermediate classes led by Rev Vernon Carter and staff.
Paris June 6 Premier Leon Blum addressed the chamber of deputies presenting a ten point program he hoped would halt a nationwide strike involving about one million industrial workers. He framed the measures as a socialistic government policy declaration.
Judge Oscar Hale of Wapello, a member of the twentieth Iowa judicial district, sits in Washington substituting for fifth district judges unable to attend. He signed several orders for Washington attorneys and heard matters ready for disposal as health issues affected the five county district.
The Washington county board of supervisors named three new appointees to fill vacancies on the county health board and county hospital board. Theodore B.
