In Jackson Park lagoon near a Spanish caravan, Jesse L. Miller 22 of Lincoln Nebraska and Frances Evelyn Moore 18 of Davenport Indiana drowned. An accident is likely as they stood on a rowboat gunwale peering over the bulwarks when the skiff slipped. Moore was a University of Chicago student and Miller a preparatory student at South Side Academy. Moore’s father and family had lived in Kewanee Illinois until last summer.
The western trunk line committee in Chicago decided to remove the bridge arbitrary at Omaha. Omaha merchants fought for years for the concession to allow wholesalers access to Iowa and end the $5 per car bridge toll. The change will cut costs for Iowa shipments of livestock to the Omaha market and for packing house products entering Iowa.

Berlin June 6. An old sergeant Warneck of the Ninety second Infantry is sentenced to thirty months in prison and dismissal from the army after conviction for 166 abuses of soldiers. In two cases Warneck spat in the mouths of recruits.
