Mercer and Chilcote announce a continued one week sale on dress goods under the same terms as last week. Buy six yards of any all wool fabric and they will furnish it. Prices on silk finish Henriettas drop from 50c to 46c and all wool serges from 50c to 46c, with serges and Henriettas at 58c from 65c, plus reductions on other dress fabrics.
A passenger, David Turner, was struck with a coupling pin by Joseph Farrier on a B and N W line excursion returning from Burlington. Turner suffered a deep facial gash and a head injury, while Farrier was arrested. both sides give differing accounts of the confrontation.
A dying child and a dying sister in law mark a sad turn in the Rathmel family with Dug Rathmel working the farm for his brother Jas and caring for his nine year old son. The text notes local entertainers Billy Casad and Coleman Heagler planning a fifty person minstrel tour with bands and a Newsboy Band novelty. Lincoln J. Carters Fast Mail opens at The Graham in August while Gladis Wallis and Fredrick Paulding debut at Mc Vicker's in Chicago August 26.

A farmer left his team in front of a grocery store this morning. The horses became frightened and began to return home. The farmer chased and climbed into the wagon to stop them. The incident serves as a warning about leaving untied teams while entering stores.
A reader notes grass growing along streets outside the regular center and urges the street commissioner to use the road grader more on those streets. The message praises the commissioner but criticizes maintenance.
Bethlehem Commandery plans a short session tonight at seven o clock. Robert Crail a Burlington traveler stayed with his brother J B Crail and Master Hubert Crail joined them.
