A Journal interview with Neal Wilkins of the Iowa Telephone Co. says a Washington to Muscatine line could be finished in sixty days with local support. Muscatine Columbus Junction Sigourney and other points already have service. Citizens are urged to buy coupon books to fund the extension and then call directly for a fraction of telegram costs.

Miss Lizzie Anderson entertained 338 guests last evening in honor of Rev. W P Johnstone who leaves for Denver to attend the BR P Synod. The gathering drew the town’s older circle of Rev Johnstone’s friends who recalled youth days and olden times, ending as the evening faded.
An informal dancing party was held at Phoenix Hall last evening hosted by the young people. Fritz’s orchestra provided music described as elegant and superb. Notables include harpist Herbert LaRue and conductor Mr. Fritz, with prompter Chas. Walling praised. About twenty couples attended and enjoyed the evening.
Miss Alma McCutchen entertained about twenty of her young friends at her home last evening. Guests received cards showing animals and drawings were required. Roy Raguet won first prize and Will Walton won the other prize. Guests departed at a late hour praising the fun.
