In New York a 64 year old taxi driver, Howard Feist, was stabbed on a subway car as bystander passengers fled. The assailant, Howard Newman, 43, was subdued by Transit Authority police after a chase through the train. Feist sustained twenty two stitches and was in serious condition at Coney Island Hospital. Newman admitted drinking but said he felt like it.
