Arthur Trease was released from jail today after a nine month delay due to a misinterpretation of a traffic charge. Judge Alphonse Wells said the intended sentence was seven months. Trease had written to a newspaper noting a possible mixup in his case.

He cited atomic weapons guided missiles and aviation transforming warfare and said graduates face an increasingly exacting task in a fast moving army. He warned the idea of soldiers waiting for diplomacy to fail is outmoded and emphasized leadership for peace.
