Senate forecasts approval of foreign aid compromise
Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Tom Connally said there is no question the Senate will approve a $6.431 billion foreign aid bill. House Senate conferees reached agreement on the compromise late Tuesday night, $1.469 billion less than Truman's $7.9 billion request for fiscal 1953 starting July 1. Rep. Robert B. Chiperfield indicated the House will likely approve the measure despite providing more than originally voted. Connally said the Senate will likely take up the bill late this week.

Painter Injured When Scaffold Breaks in Washington

Rescue Underway as Five Miners Trapped in Iron Mine
